Jaan Carter
Jaan Carter is The Word Herder. She has many creatures living in her head, and so is compelled to vent them by doing character voiceovers. Besides being actively involved in the creation of The Violet Vortex cartoon, she is currently in her fourth year of writing, illustrating and producing a monthly 'zine called The Moon Dog Journal, and also writes songs and compulsively performs other types of word herding, including poetry and prose, verbal and written word-play and the editing of everything. She sings lead vocals and plays rhythm guitar in the San Francisco-based rock band, Rhythmaniacs.
Jaan, a natural mimic, studied voiceover for 2 years at Taylor Korobow's Voice Factory, studied voiceover with J.S. Gilbert, studied improvisation for two years with Jim Cranna. She also studied ballet and modern dance for three-and-a-half years, began writing at the age of twelve, and won a city-wide piano contest as a youngster.
